For a long time now I’ve been hesitant to use services such as Twitter. Well, I broke down and tried it, and loved it. I loved making constant updates on what was on my mind. It was an outlet through which I could share and express anything. I even bound my Facebook status to my Twitter feed.
But is it all worth it?
In recent days, my use of Twitter has caused drama. Now, is it my fault? Or Twitters? Not really. What it does involve is the perceptions and reactions of individuals to content that they are exposed to on the internet. What I wrote wasn’t mean, inappropriate, or anything of that nature, however, it resulted in a situation that made me think about all of these constant updates I’d been making lately.
Do we really need this much information? Hasn’t the internet made it possible for us to explore and learn about so many things? Of course, but should there be a limit? Perhaps.
I feel as though we need to reexamine the manner with which we blog/micro-blog, and truly make sure that what we are doing is the best fit for us. For me, I’ve decided that while I like making updates and sharing thoughts, perhaps it would be best if they were not quite so frequent.
